Living on the Straight Edge

Thank you. I always try to be posi and ignore those that just hate on others.

I found your blog via a Yahoo! question, "Can I call myself straightedge?" I've refrained from calling myself straightedge because it's only been a week that I've been clean of nicotine. (Drugs and drinking have never been an issue.) How would you as a straight edge person approach someone like me who's only been clean a week calling themselves straightedge. Could this push some people the wrong way?

Being Straight Edge is a personal thing.  You shouldn't care what other people think, however you should be doing it for the right reasons.  So it comes down to your own commitment.  If you think you can be Straight Edge for the rest of your life then call yourself Straight Edge.  When it does come to it and people say stuff, those that are Straight Edge will wonder more about the life long commitment and those that are not Edge will question your age and past.  So do you think you are now and will always be Straight Edge is the real question to ask, and if the answer is yes, then say you are Straight Edge.

Also, claiming Edge and letting others know you are now committed to be poison free for the rest of your life might be that banner that keeps you clean forever.

Be true to yourself is my best advice.

My first of many straight edge tattoos. It's a super late birthday present and should have been posted already but there's been a lot of shit going on lately. I'm very happy with this and my artist was fantastic. Can't wait to have more edge tattoos, but I think this was a decent start on them.

2013 better not suck like 2012

So 2012 is the year I would want to forget, but never will. October was always my month, a time that was special. My birthday and my wife’s birthday are in October, our anniversary is Halloween, it was always a time for celebration, till 2012.

My father died from a serious motorcycle accident on October 19th and then hurricane Sandy wrecked Long Island flooding my basement (5 1/2 ft of water) and garage (3 1/4 ft) and destroying memories from my childhood.

I never want to feel like I will hate October and I will never forget 2012, but I want 2013 to be something special again.

I hate being sad and really need to be posi and just pull through.
